Jaromir Rusnak Quartet is a Milan-based contemporary European jazz ensemble led by Polish double bassist and composer Jaromir Rusnak.
The quartet performs original music built around strong melodic writing, rhythmic flexibility, and collective interplay. Rooted in jazz tradition yet shaped by the cultural dialogue between Central Europe and the Mediterranean, the project reflects a distinctly European voice developed within the cosmopolitan context of Milan.
Rather than relying on virtuosity for its own sake, the music emphasizes clarity, form, and emotional resonance. Odd meters and shifting structures are integrated organically, serving the melody rather than overshadowing it.
Since its formation, the quartet has appeared at jazz clubs and festivals across Europe. The debut album Everlasting Suite was released by SJ Records on 20 March 2025.
Playing alongside musicians of this caliber is both humbling and inspiring. I’m grateful to be part of this journey with them.
Most of my music is written for a piano trio with an additional voice. In this quartet, that voice is Jossy Botte on tenor saxophone, who has given our sound a unique depth and character. At times, I feel like Jossy and Giuseppe have a dynamic similar to Dizzy and Bird - constantly challenging and inspiring each other to push further.
From the very first time we played together, it just clicked. Every element in the band is well-balanced, and we share a strong musical connection with a clear direction ahead. Being part of this quartet has been a huge source of inspiration and motivation for me, driving me to compose, grow, and always give my best.
